Un recuerdo al hombre, al artista y al genio que nos dejó sus palabras y que ahora traigo al presente mediante una selección de frases sacadas de diferentes entrevistas que le hicieron. Sirvan de reconocimiento y agradecimiento a uno de los grandes artistas mundiales del S. XX, a la vez que para procurar entender un poco más el significado que él creó y quiso dar a su vida. Aprovecho esta forma online de reconocimiento y agradecimiento al trabajo realizado y su aportación a la historia del arte.
.../No quiero ser como los pintores que me han precedido, porque están muy vistos, y a la sociedad ya no le sorprende. Por ejemplo, el colorido. Hay muchos grandes artistas que han usado mucho los colores primitivos. En el siglo XX, las vanguardias lo hicieron mucho. Colores simples. Rojo, amarillo, azul. De esto han abusado los pintores y la publicidad. Y ahora, la tele en color. Por eso yo decidí pintar con otros colores. Y tal vez también por la necesidad de buscar colores más profundos, más serios. En estas cosas hay una mezcla de todo. Como el sentirme cerca de la tierra. Y de esta manera, la tierra se hizo presente en su obra, literalmente, incluyéndola como elemento, emulando el relieve o la textura de un terreno. Es ridículo que vuelvan a repetirse los nombres que yo oía de pequeño, en lugar de oír cosas nuevas. Eso es preocupante.
.../Dicen que los viejos nos volvemos más sabios, y lo hacemos en el sentido literal de la palabra, aprendemos a vivir. López Cobos, el director de orquesta, decía que ahora que tenía más años era mucho más feliz cuando tocaba; disfrutaba porque ya no le importaba lo que decían los demás. y Tapies decía “le entiendo”. Si se ha hecho ese recorrido, se entiende que Tapies, en los últimos años de su vida, se atreviera a pintar casi a ciegas teniendo en cuenta sus problemas de visión.
.../Se movió e innovó dentro de un mundo abstracto pero lleno se signos figurativos y en los que tuvo un enorme peso la materia. Todo ello dentro de un marcado sentido espiritual. La iconografía judeocristiana que utiliza Tàpies en sus obras, algunos símbolos o la aparición de las letras A y T en varias obras, que simbolizan sus iníciales, pero también Antoni y Teresa, que es su mujer, se repite hasta la saciedad a lo largo de su vida. Él lo explicó abiertamente: las cruces o las materias que pinto se repiten porque en el fondo ése es mi lenguaje, el que me he construido. Y pienso que una cruz se puede hacer de infinitas formas, no se acaba nunca. En este sentido, envejecer da una cierta tranquilidad. Entre los símbolos aparece también el 4, refiriéndose a los cuatro elementos y puntos cardinales. El cuerpo humano y los objetos cotidianos son otros protagonistas de sus obras. Aparecen también los símbolos mágicos y enigmáticos sólo conocidos por el autor y su esposa, insertos en un medio de una comunicación personal, amorosa en donde nosotros contemplamos la particular caligrafía de Tápies. Trabaja como un alquimista que es capaz de transformar materiales perecederos e innobles en permanentes y nobles a través de su nueva vida dentro de la obra, influenciado por una filosofía Zen, dando un nuevo significado a materiales insignificantes hasta llegar a hacerlos trascendentales.

Quedémonos con uno de los muchos mensajes positivos que nos dejó, una clave para ver siempre algo positivo en la vida: es muy importante compensar el dolor con el amor. Y ese equilibrio te hace ver la vida con optimismo.
